Organize a Free Eye Camp
How to Support an Eye Camp?
You can help bring the gift of sight to those in need by sponsoring an eye camp through Lions Eye Hospital and Research Center, Parasaia (LEHRCP). Eye camps provide free eye care services to communities and help detect, treat, and prevent blindness. LEHRCP relies on community partners to make these camps successful.
Who Can Be a Community Partner (Sponsor)?
Any individual or organization passionate about community welfare can become a sponsor. This includes voluntary social service organizations like Lions, Rotary, religious groups, trusts, industries, banks, hospitals, NGOs, and local community groups. LEHRCP welcomes self-motivated sponsors who share our goal of serving those in need.
Sponsors’ Role
Sponsors play a vital role by organizing the camp venue (such as a school), arranging necessary facilities like furniture, electricity, water, and helping with publicity. They also support patient mobilization and may provide lodging and meals for the medical team if the camp location is far from the hospital.
How to Choose a Location for a Camp?
An ideal camp site is a village with a population of 10,000 to 20,000, including nearby areas within a 5 km radius. The camp venue, typically a large school, should be accessible to surrounding villages and selected on a date that doesn’t conflict with local events.
Sponsor Responsibilities:
- Mobilize community members with the help of volunteers.
- Arrange lodging and boarding for the medical team if needed.
- Provide transport for patients between villages and the camp if the site is not easily accessible.
- Publicize the event widely through local media and social platforms.
